on magazine
Allyson is featured in this month's On Magazine. The magazine is a fairly small one, but the photographs blew me away. They were shot by Richard Krall, and I hope she gets to work with him again. His portfolio is quite impressive.

industrial design
The Industrial Design Program here at school is showcasing some of their finished projects. The fabrication of their prototypes is really impressive. The top image is of a watch-type device that monitors athletes' water levels. Underneath that, an Antarctic shelter that utilizes snow as insulation. Next, a "blank canvas" shoe that enables its wearers to customize it however they see fit. The bottom image is of "tap," a schnazzy-looking water bottle that filters tap water and encourages sustainability.

I was about to run out the door with Chris today when I realized the light was hitting my cup to where the handle's shadow made a heart (aw, haha).
On the way to school, I decided to stop in Third Ward to take some photos of this quirky "field of vision." It's a small field that is filled with large, stone eyes -- eyes on pedestals, eyes on the ground, eyes on benches. It's something to see, and though I've driven past it a million times, I decided that today was the day I'd finally pull over and photograph it. The sun was reflecting off of a metal roof in the background, and the photos would have been pretty cool. Also in the field is a tree with a few shopping carts suspended from its branches. Why haven't I stopped before, you ask? Third Ward is the ghetto. But today, I was feeling brave. I sat in my truck, changing the lens on my camera, when I noticed three shirtless men running past me, one of them holding a purse. Another shady character wearing no shoes started walking towards my truck. No photos today. Maybe someday I'll get the shots. It's really a shame that one can't get out of their car in this historic neighborhood without being accosted.

fine arts fights cancer
When I walked into the Architecture building today, the atrium was filled with artwork for a silent auction. I ended up buying this beautiful photograph of Alhambra in Granada, by photographer Lauren Burnett. Plus, the proceeds went to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. What can get better than that?
final jury
What a whirlwind. Our final jury was yesterday, and even though the school's printer decided to print out all of my drawings in pink (yes, pink), things went really well. I'm really happy with all of my drawings and my model... Afterwards, a few of us went to Alabama Icehouse to toast the Dean, who is retiring this year. We definitely deserved a drink!
