progress and process
Here's a sampling of the 1:30 models I've made recently, and a programmatic diagram. Hoping to make some good design decisions this week while I'm rested, and to produce a good amount of work. "Form follows experience" is the mantra.
This is pretty neat, especially if you're a Puma fan.
alexander mcqueen
Paris fashion week is all about showmanship and drama. But, with the current state of consumerism, it has largely been filled with sensible, practical, ready-to-wear pieces. Designers are appealing to the working woman. Alexander McQueen delivered a world of fantasy--an apocalyptic version of "The Nightmare Before Christmas." The stage was a mountain of scrap metal and props torn down from previous McQueen shows, and the catwalk was covered with shattered mirrors. Disturbingly pale models tromped the runway with ridiculous headpieces and sex-doll lips. If you can look past the theatrical elements, however, the clothes are pretty amazing. McQueen might be the only designer with enough balls to give a huge middle finger to the predicament fashion is in.
You can see a quick recap of the entire collection here. Yes, it's a little disturbing, and it's meant to be. But, I'd much rather watch something completely off the wall, than watch fifty suits march down a catwalk.

the big apple
I went a bit overboard with this little project. My sister leaves for Manhattan today, and has a number of "go-sees" scheduled this Tuesday and Wednesday. Big-brother instincts kicked in, I wanted to make it easier for her to handle the tight schedule. I began mapping the different agencies, then decided to make one of my own. Fingers crossed for Ally this week!
