dallas/fort worth trip number ?

Our studio took a trip to Dallas this weekend. We got to see Norman Foster lecture at his newly opened Winspear Opera House, a disappointingly-brief tour of the uber-cool Wyly Theater, the Foster + partners exhibit at the Nasher, and of course the Kimball and Modern.

At the Nasher, I walked out into the sculpture garden to suddenly be passed by Norman Foster deep in conversation with a colleague. I totally froze. Talk about a missed photo-op!

menil lecture hall and gallery

Here's my progress on our semester studio project: a lecture hall and gallery along Richmond, for the Menil Collection. The site is currently home to Richmond Hall (Dan Flavin's installation), and my solution was to attach the addition to Richmond Hall, also creating a courtyard space towards the rest of the campus, and embracing the harder edge condition of Richmond. The site is also across from the future Metro lightrail stop.

ode to mcqueen

Alexander McQueen never seems to disappoint. His collections are always a breath of fresh air. His spring/summer 2010 line, called "Plato's Atlantis," presents a whole different world. Reptilian prints were followed by aquatic-themed pieces and amazonian warriors. The shoes are sure to be talked about - completely innovative, probably ridiculously uncomfortable, amazing pieces of art. The tailoring makes it all McQueen... impeccable cuts and details.
